Ravenscroft Rest Home Ltd & Centre for Independent Living   Ravenscroft Rest Home is a detached 36-bed establishment set in its own spacious grounds. The home is situated close to all Longton village amenities, including local shops, library, post office and health centre. The majority of the bedrooms are single with en-suite facilities. The home can provide both permanent and respite care. The home has an ambience which is both relaxed and friendly, and great emphasis is placed on a home from home philosophy. The aim is to provide high standards of care for the clients by promoting their individuality and rights. On 20th June 2002 the home had its first inspection under the National Care Standards Commission. The report highlighted many areas of good or excellent practice, with an overall rating of excellent. The recently established Centre for Independent Living is a 10-bed rehabilitation unit which serves the community of South Ribble. In partnership with Social Services and the Health Authority, intensive rehabilitation is provided for the elderly with the primary aim of promoting independence and facilitating the return of the individual to their own home.
